The quasi-continuous wave (QCW) fiber laser is capable of delivering concentrated energy peaks over a relatively extended pulse period, which endows it with unique advantages in industrial welding. This output characteristic is highly suitable for welding processes that require stable molten pool control, such as local fusion welding and continuous weld seam joining. By setting pulse parameters appropriately, laser energy can act on the welding area with high precision, avoiding excessive heat diffusion. During the development phase, this QCW laser welding machine was designed with reference to the requirements of some YAG welding applications, with its energy output mode and control logic redesigned.
